Bronze Award

£100.00

An 8-session creative programme for young artists who want to develop their skills, try new things and work towards their Bronze Arts Award.

This is a relaxed, encouraging art programme where young people can explore different materials and techniques, develop their own creative interests and build confidence in their abilities.

Across eight two-hour sessions, we'll experiment with drawing, painting, mixed media and other creative techniques, alongside exploring artists, experiencing art and learning how to share creative skills with others.

This isn't about already being "good at art". Students are encouraged to experiment, make mistakes, develop their own ideas and discover what kind of artist they might like to become.

Along the way, students will build a portfolio of their work and evidence towards their Bronze Arts Award, with guidance and support throughout the programme.

What we'll explore

Students will:

  • experiment with a range of art materials and techniques

  • choose and develop their own creative skill

  • learn about artists and creative careers

  • experience and respond to art

  • develop their sketchbook and portfolio

  • share a creative skill with others

  • reflect on how their work and confidence have developed

Students will also have access to our private online Young Artists area, with session overviews, resources, reminders and additional inspiration to support their work between sessions.

Sessions will take place at the Charles Dickens Activity Centre, Portsmouth, from 1.30-3.30pm.

Session 1: October 16th
